Scholar of Latin American political economy, development, and gender-sensitive policy, with a focus on poverty reduction and peacebuilding in the region.
I am an assistant professor of Global Affairs at Trinity Washington University. I received my Ph.D. in Public Policy and Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas. I earned a Master of Science in Applied Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) with the support of a Fulbright grant. Before graduating from UIUC, I received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and worked as an assistant researcher at the Grupo de Análisis para el Desarrollo.
I have co-authored articles published in the Journal of World Development, the Journal of Development Studies, the Journal of Applied Geography, and the Journal of Defence and Peace Economics. My research focuses on gender-sensitive policies, development studies, peace and conflict, and poverty reduction in Latin America.
My teaching portfolio includes courses such as Latin American political economy, comparative politics of Latin America, and economic development in Latin America.
